A Luxembourg-based cryptocurrency provider says it holds trademark rights in the word blockchain for digital wallet and related services.
Blockchain Luxembourg SA and its U.S. affiliate, Blockchain (US) Inc., filed a trademark infringement lawsuit Sept. 20 against Paymium SAS.
Paymium is violating Blockchain Luxembourg’s registered trademark rights by using Blockchain.io for its cryptocurrency services, the Luxembourg company alleged. Blockchain Luxembourg’s website address is Blockchain.info. It claims Paymium is trying to trade on its reputation by adopting the Blockchain.io name.
