Craft Brewer Accuses MillerCoors of Poaching ‘Stone’ Trademark

A Southern California craft brewer accused beer giant MillerCoors LLC of infringing its trademark by shortening the name of its Keystone brand to “Stone,” in a trademark infringement complaint filed Feb. 12.

Stone Brewing Co.’s filing in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California alleges the rebranding is the latest attempt to shorten the Keystone name in violation of Stone’s trademark rights. In April 2017, the brewer changed the packaging of its Keystone brand to emphasize the word “stone.”
