Costco Says It’s Not Infringing Titleist Golf Ball Patents

Retail giant Costco Wholesale Corp. asked a court March 17 to rule that its golf balls don’t infringe patents owned by the parent company of the popular Titleist brand (Costco Wholesale Corp. v. Acushnet Holdings Corp., W.D. Wash., 17-423, complaint filed 3/17/17).

Acushnet Holdings Corp., which owns Titleist, sent Costco a letter claiming that Costco’s Kirkland Signature golf ball infringed 11 of its patents, according to a declaratory judgment complaint filed by Costco in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.
