CoStar Tries to Boot Quinn Emanuel From Photo Copyright Suit

Real estate information business CoStar Group Inc. urged a federal judge to disqualify law firm Quinn Emanuel from representing a rival company in a copyright infringement lawsuit on the brink of trial.

CoStar’s lawsuit accuses Commercial Real Estate Exchange Inc., known as CREXi, of illegally copying more than 50,000 CoStar-copyrighted photographs. Quinn, which currently represents CoStar in a different lawsuit, is violating its duty of loyalty by representing CREXi in this case, according to a motion filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
