Corning Sues Over ‘Retaliatory’ Patent Litigation Against Buyers

Corning Inc. sued a Minnesota cell culturing system maker in response to its alleged “retaliatory” patent litigation against buyers of Corning’s culturing vessels.

The complaint says Wilson Wolf Manufacturing Corp. wrongly asserted patent claims against Corning’s customers to interfere with business relationships after losing on patent infringement claims.

Corning makes HYPERStack cell culturing vessels, used by researchers, pharmaceutical companies, and hospitals to grow cells for treatment and drug development. Corning says its vessels use “gas-permeable film tecnology” to be the “most efficient, scalable cell culture vessel for adherent cell culture.” Wilson Wolf also makes gas-permeable cell culture devices.
