Corning Seeks to Block Rival Fiber-Optic Equipment From U.S.

Corning filed a patent-infringement complaint at the U.S. International Trade Commission, seeking to block imports of high-density fiber optic equipment destined for data centers to connect switches and servers in communications networks

  • Among the companies name in the complaint are AFL, Huber+Suhner, Legrand, Leviton, Panduit, Shanghai Tarluz Telecom, Lan Wirewerks, Siemon Co., Total Cable Solutions and Wulei Technology
  • Corning said the technology is used in its Edge products to allow for a greater density of connections on industry-standard rack space, which makes the data centers more efficient
