Cop Passed Up for DEA Job After BLM Rant Loses Free Speech Suit

A Florida police officer can’t proceed with claims that a reprimand she received for posting an “expletive-laden rant” about Black Lives Matter on her Facebook page caused her to lose out on a job with the Drug Enforcement Administration, a federal trial court ruled.

Nicole Lucas, an officer with the City of Delray Beach Police Department, sued the city, alleging First Amendment retaliation and sex discrimination in violation of 42 U.S.C. §1983.
