Continental Avoids Radar Sensor Patent Trial With Settlement

Irish patent-holding company Arigna Technology Ltd. has settled patent-infringement claims with a German auto parts maker that supplies automakers including Tesla Inc. and General Motors LLC, narrowly avoiding an East Texas jury trial that was set to begin Monday.

Judge Rodney Gilstrap canceled the trial Friday after the parties notified him that “all matters in controversy between Arigna and Conti have been settled, in principle.”

The trial would’ve focused on whether Conti Temic Microelectronic GmbH and parent company Continental AG created radar modules that infringe Arigna’s US Patent No. 7,397,318, which covers a voltage-controlled oscillator. The suit ...
