Comments on Inventor Diversity Push Requested by Patent Office

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is helping put together a plan to create “a more demographically, geographically, and economically inclusive” group of inventors participating in the patent system and wants ideas from the public.

The office is requesting comments to help the National Council for Expanding American Innovation develop the strategy, the agency said in a Federal Register notice set to publish Wednesday.

Comprised of leaders government, nonprofits, industry, and academia, NCEAI aims to help the patent office get more women and minorities to participate in the U.S. patent system. The NCEAI is an outgrowth of studies mandated by ...
