Comcast Loses Bid to Stay Xfinity Streaming Platform Patent Suit

Comcast Cable Communications LLC failed to convince the Middle District of Florida to stay a patent infringement case against it concerning its Xfinity X1 streaming technology on the ground that it already filed petitions for review in the Patent and Trade Office.

Streaming video company WhereverTV Inc. may proceed with claims that an “interactive programming guide” in Comcast’s Xfinity X1 platform infringes on its patent for a “global interactive program guide and device,” the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida said Oct. 9.
