The city of Cleveland on Monday followed through with a promise to sue the Cleveland Browns to try to scuttle its owners’ plans to abandon a lakefront stadium the team has played at for decades for a new domed one in the suburbs.
The city wants a judge to enforce against the Browns Ohio’s so-called “Modell Law,” which says a professional sports team that uses a tax-supported stadium can’t stop playing most of its home games there unless the city where it’s located agrees.
