Web conferencing software maker ClearOne Inc. won the “extraordinary relief” of a preliminary injunction against audio equipment company Shure Inc. for allegedly infringing a patent covering a microphone array for conference rooms.
The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said Aug. 5 the injunction was justified because Shure likely infringed the patent and caused ClearOne irreparable harm.
ClearOne owns U.S. Patent No. 9,813,806, which combines a beamforming microphone array (BFMA) with a ceiling tile to pick up audio in a conference room while remaining hidden from view.
