Citibank, USAA Fail to Escape Suits Over Biometric Login Tech

Citibank NA and USAA Federal Savings Bank must face separate lawsuits accusing them of infringing patents covering biometric login technology.

Dismissal of PACid Technologies LLC’s claims would be premature because a more developed record is necessary to resolve the parties’ disputes over certain patent terms, according to two orders issued Thursday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas. Judge David A. Ezra said he’s skeptical PACid can demonstrate its patents are valid and directed towards something other than an abstract idea, but stressed the potential value of further fact development.
