Cisco’s Win Upheld Barring a Lionra Patent Suit Over Intel Parts

Lionra Technologies Ltd. failed to convince the Federal Circuit a licensing agreement with another company doesn’t prevent the patent owner from suing Cisco Systems Inc. for the use of Intel Corp. processors in its products.

The lower court correctly found that a 2022 agreement between Lionra and RPX Corp. covers US Patent No. 7,623,518 and includes the products of all RPX licensees such as Intel, which can also issue sublicenses, according to an opinion issued Wednesday in the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
