Cisco Wins Jury Trial, Voiding Brazos Telecom-Translators Patent

Cisco Systems Inc. won an infringement trial as a federal jury in Texas canceled a WSOU Investments LLC patent for databases that help different devices communicate despite different industry standards.

Cisco convinced jurors that all three asserted claims of US Patent No. 8,989,216 are invalid as anticipated, according to a verdict issued Wednesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas. The jury also found Cisco wouldn’t have infringed the patent even if it were valid.
