Cisco Wins Dismissal in Trademark Fight With Reseller, for Now

Cisco Systems Inc. temporarily fended off accusations that it misled consumers in a counterclaim brought by Dexon Computer Inc., a secondary-market reseller of computer networking products including Cisco’s, according to a San Francisco federal court ruling.

Cisco initiated the lawsuit against Dexon in 2020 for trademark infringement and counterfeiting, but Dexon replied with its own claims that Cisco engaged in false advertising in violation of the Lanham Act.

Judge Charles R. Breyer of the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of California granted Cisco’s motion to dismiss the counterclaims, but gave Dexon one last chance to amend.
