Cisco Shot Down in Bid to Pause Wireless-Networking Patent Suit

A Texas federal judge tanked Cisco System Inc.’s bid to pause Lionra Technology Ltd.’s patent infringement suit pending proceedings in a validity challenge at an administrative tribunal.

A stay until the Patent Trial and Appeal Board issues a final written decision could delay the case’s resolution because the ruling isn’t due until more than five months after the anticipated jury trial date, Chief Judge Rodney Gilstrap said in an opinion filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. That could harm Lionra’s ability to use its patent rights, Gilstrap wrote.
