Cisco Defeats CosmoKey’s Revived Authentication-Patent Suit (2)

Cisco Systems Inc. again invalidated a CosmoKey Solutions GmbH & Co. KG patent, four years after the Federal Circuit revived the lawsuit over multi-factor authentication technology.

Cisco and its unit Duo Security Inc. didn’t infringe US Patent No. 9,246,903, according to a jury verdict filed June 13 in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. The jury determined CosmoKey failed to prove infringement, while Cisco and Duo proved the patent was invalid as anticipated by earlier publications.

A Cisco spokesperson said in an email the company is pleased with the jury’s decision.
