Chris Brown Finally Free of ‘Pills and Automobiles’ Lawsuit

A musician jointly agreed to drop his lawsuit claiming R&B singer Chris Brown stole parts of his song for the hit “Pills and Automobiles” Thursday after a federal judge had shot down Brown’s two previous attempts to dismiss the case.

Brandon Saunders, who performs as “Sqooby,” sued Brown, Sony Music Entertainment Inc., and Songs of Universal Inc. in November 2021, claiming the chorus of Brown’s song uses the same lyrics as Saunders’ song “Wet.” Saunders claimed Brown’s song, which sold more than 3 million copies, was an “interpolated mocked-up version” of his song.
