Chinese Storefronts Liable for Selling Counterfeit Toys

Multiple China-based businesses with Internet storefronts hosted on Alibaba.com and other Chinese websites are liable for over $2 million for selling counterfeit toys, a New York federal court ruled Feb. 6.

Spin Master, Inc. sells a line of plastic toy balls called Bunchems. Spin Master sued 47 defendants with internet storefronts hosted by Alibaba.com, AliExpress.com, and DHGate.com for selling counterfeit Bunchems, bringing copyright, trademark, unfair competition, and unjust enrichment claims.
