Yangtze Memory Technologies Co. told the US Patent and Trademark Office director the company’s inclusion on a US Commerce Department blacklist shouldn’t affect its administrative challenges against patents owned by US competitor Micron Technology Inc.

YMTC’s placement on the Bureau of Industry and Security’s Entity List isn’t relevant to the validity of US Patent Nos. 8,945,996 and 10,872,903, the Chinese semiconductor firm said in response briefs filed Monday at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. YMTC said federal courts have rejected Micron’s attempt to “weaponize” the list in the lengthy litigation between the two rivals.
