A Chinese-American defense laboratory manager was charged with stealing thousands of secret files from a US military contractor, according to a criminal complaint unsealed Tuesday.

Chenguang Gong, a Chinese native who became an American citizen in 2011, is alleged to have illegally downloaded more than 3,600 computer files—including computerized designs—while working as a research manager at an unidentified infrared sensor technology company based in Malibu, California, according to the criminal complaint in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
