China’s Cabinet Urges Tariff Cuts to Fulfill RCEP Trade Pact

China’s Premier Li Keqiang presided over a State Council meeting Wednesday vowing to accelerate implementation of the recently signed Asia-Pacific trade pact known as RCEP, including cutting tariffs, according to a government statement.

  • The meeting urged timely completion of tasks under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership trade deal, including accelerating domestic approval procedures, adopting tariff cuts and simplifying other procedures.
  • China also will push forward adoption of higher standards in the liberalization of trade and investment, intellectual property rights protection, trade remedies, e-commerce and government purchases, it said.
