Chicago sued a firefighter-run coffee company Thursday for allegedly using a logo confusingly similar to that of the city’s Fire Department.
Both the CFD and Fire Department Coffee Inc. use “a red stylized monogram of superimposed or intertwined letters C, F, and D” as a trademark, the Chicago federal court complaint says.
The city says it licenses its fire department logo for use in television, movies, and on firefighter apparel, and owns a federal trademark registration for the logo covering “fire prevention services.”
