The pet-food company Chewy Inc. failed to convince a federal judge in New York to throw out four counterclaims over alleged violations of internet-related patents owned by International Business Machines Corp.
Chewy sued in February, seeking confirmation that it does not infringe four patents owned by IBM and claiming IBM baselessly accuses well-known companies of infringing “very early Internet patents” and demands large sums of money to avoid litigation. IBM allegedly sought a $36 million license for patents covering internet-content technology.
