Cheech Marin Says ‘Cheech’s Own’ Coffee Misleads Consumers (1)

New Jersey coffee company Cheech’s Own infringes comedian Cheech Marin’s trademark and publicity rights, according to a complaint filed in the Central District of California.

Marin says “Cheech’s Own” misleads consumers into believing he’s affiliated with the brand and dilutes his federally registered “Cheech” trademark.

Cheech’s Own makes cold brew coffee as well as textiles, soap, and beauty products. The complaint says Cheech’s Own filed to register its trademark federally and was rejected based on possible confusion with Marin.
