Changes to Rules of Domain Registration Take Effect

Changes to the rules of .RU domain name registration, regarding confirmation of identity of administrators of .RU domain names, went into effect on April 1. As of that date, domain name administrators will have to confirm their identity by sending relevant data to the relevant Russian domain name registrar with whom they have domain name management accounts.

Importantly, as of April 1, the following actions with respect to domain management, registration and transfer can be performed only if the relevant administrator is duly identified:

  • domain name registration;


  • change of information required for identification of the domain name administrator;
