CBS Films, Lionsgate See Copyright Suit Over ‘Five Feet Apart’ (1)

An actor and activist is accusing CBS Films Inc., Lionsgate Entertainment Corp., and Wayfarer Entertainment of copyright infringement for allegedly copying his screenplay for the film “Five Feet Apart,” in a complaint filed in a Los Angeles federal court.

Travis Flores alleges in the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California that “Five Feet Apart” copies his screenplay in several ways, including the mood, themes, characters, and plot. The two films are “substantially similar,” because Justin Baldoni, the director of “Five Feet Apart,” received Flores’ script and copied several elements, Flores alleged.
