‘Catfish’ Producers File Trademark Suit Against Media Companies

A production company behind the hit MTV reality show “Catfish” has filed suit against two media companies for trademark infringement, claiming they plan to use the “Catfish” name for a competing television series called “Catfish Murders” without permission.

Catfish Picture Co., which owns federal trademark registrations for “Catfish” and “Catfish: The TV Show” for entertainment services, filed the lawsuit Wednesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
