A federal district court in Louisiana granted in part and denied in part a Bureau Veritas Commodities and Trade Inc. former employee and Cotecna Inspection Inc.'s motions to dismiss claims for breach of contract, trade secret misappropriation, violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, unfair trade practices, breach of fiduciary duties, unjust enrichment, conversion, conspiracy, and fraud. Bureau Veritas accused the employee of stealing business information related to its metals and mining inspection and sampling practice and using it to establish a competing division at lab testing company Cotecna.
