Case: Trade Secrets/Discovery (C.D. Cal.)

May 29, 2024, 4:02 PM UTC

A federal district court in California granted iSpot.TV Inc.’s motion to compel Entertainment Data Oracle Inc. to produce its database schema, data taxonomies, data dictionaries, and revision histories for its competing code, in this trade secrets misappropriation action. The court found that iSpot needed access to the material sought in order to prove its claim of misappropriation through reverse engineering. The court held that the protective order already in place ensured that the confidential information would be for attorneys’ eyes only, so compelling production of the information wouldn’t be competitively harmful.
