Apple Inc. lacks standing to challenge decisions of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board upholding two Qualcomm Inc. patents for a method and device for enabling message responses to incoming phone calls and a card metaphor for activities in a computing device, the Federal Circuit ruled. Apple unsucccessfully challenged parts of the patents at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board after Qualcomm sued for infringement over technology in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and the parties subsequently settled all litigation between the two companies worldwide.
