The Federal Circuit affirmed the decision of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board affirming an examiner’s rejection of claims of BAC IP B.V.'s application for a patent directed to methods for purifying mammalian immunoglobulin antibodies by using an immunoadsorbent material for failing to provide an adequate written description. According to the court, the board’s determination that the application lacks a sufficient written description was supported by substantial evidence.
