The Federal Circuit affirmed the decision of the U.S. International Trade Commission that claims of Brita LP’s patent directed to gravity flow fluid filtration systems used for removing contaminants from water are invalid for lack of written description and lack of enablement. According to the court, substantial evidence supports the commission’s determination that the asserted patent claims lack adequate written description, as well as its enablement determination.
