The Patent Trial and Appeal Board found that no challenged claims of Umbra Technologies Ltd.'s patent that discloses systems and methods for providing a global virtual network are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in an inter partes review by Cisco Systems Inc. The board determined that the challenged claims aren’t obvious over prior art that describes managing networks, and that discloses a global server load-balancing switch that serves as a proxy to an authoritative domain name server and communicates with numerous site switches that are coupled to host servers serving specific applications.
