The Patent Trial and Appeal Board held that challenged claims of Godo Kaisha IP Bridge 1’s patent that discloses a magnetic tunnel junction device with a high magnetoresistance aren’t unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in an inter partes review by Western Digital Technologies Inc. The board said that the challenged claims aren’t obvious over prior art titled “Large Magnetoresistance in Fe/MgO/FeCo(001) Epitaxial Tunnel Junctions on GaAs(001),” titled “Voltage-Current Characteristics for Electrical Conduction Through Thin MgO Films,” and that discloses a tunnel magnetoresistance element.
