Challenged claims of GoPro Inc.'s patent that relates to stabilizing videos so as to not appear jerky/shaky despite motion of the image capture device during the capture aren’t unpatentable as obvious over prior art, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board said, in an inter partes review by Arashi Vision (U.S.) LLC. The board held that the challenged claims aren’t obvious over prior art that discloses improved stabilization of video frames captured in low light conditions, relates to processing a video for stabilization and retargeting, and relates to optical image stabilization OIS and electronic image stabilization.
