Challenged claims of Ouraring Inc.'s patent that discloses a wearable computing device are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board held, in an inter partes review by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and Samsung Electronics America Inc. The board said that the challenged claims are obvious over prior art that discloses an external secure unit, a portable biometric monitoring device and methods, and light-guiding devices and monitoring devices.
