The Patent Trial and Appeal Board said that challenged claims of GoPro’s patent that relates to video stabilization using smoothing techniques to ameliorate camera motion during filming aren’t unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in an inter partes review by Arashi Vision (U.S.) LLC. The board found that the challenged claims aren’t unpatentable over various combinations of prior art, including prior art that discloses techniques for the stabilization of video captured in low light conditions by considering motion blur, that discloses techniques for video stabilization, and titled “A Non-Linear Filter for Gyroscope-Based Video Stabilization.”
