The Patent Trial and Appeal Board said that challenged claims of Theta IP LLC’s patent that relates to power dissipation reduction techniques for electronic circuits are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in an inter partes review by Apple Inc. The board determined that the challenged claims are obvious over prior art that describes a receiver that implements adaptive dynamic range in the IF section and that describes a broad-band bandpass filter designed as a channel-select filter for wireless application. And the board denied Theta’s motion to strike.
