The Patent Trial and Appeal Board said that some challenged claims of Yangtze Memory Technologies Company’s patent that relates to structures and methods for forming a 3D memory device are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in an inter partes review by Micron Technology Inc. The board found that some of the challenged claims are obvious over prior art that relates to a three-dimensional semiconductor memory device with an improved integration density and a method for manufacturing the same.
