The Patent Trial and Appeal Board determined that some challenged claims of Portsmouth Network Corp.'s patent that relates to methods and devices for enabling rapid reconfiguration in response to network topology changes or rapid recovery from network failures are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in an inter partes review by Cisco Systems Inc. According to the board, some challenged claims are obvious over prior art that discloses a method and apparatus for rapidly reconfiguring a computer network.
