The Patent Trial and Appeal Board held that challenged claims of ParkerVision Inc.'s patent that relates to a method of switching a power supply aren’t unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in an inter partes review by MediaTek Inc. The board said that the challenged claims aren’t obvious over various combinations of prior art, including prior art that discloses power amplifiers used in battery powered mobile handsets, titled “A High-Efficiency Linear RF Power Amplifier With a Power-Tracking Dynamically Adaptive Buck-Boost Supply,” and that relates to a linear amplification using nonlinear components out-phasing amplifier system.
