Challenged claims of WiTricity Corp.'s patent that relates to wireless energy transfer are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board said, in an inter partes review by InductEV Inc. The board determined that the challenged claims are obvious over various combinations of prior art that relates to a system that automatically detects the presence of an automobile and can operate wirelessly to recharge the battery therein, and a power delivery system that wirelessly delivers electric power and a communication signal to a target device.
