The Patent Trial and Appeal Board said that challenged claims of Miracor Medical SA’s patent that provides a device to assist the performance of a heart with at least one pump that is formed as a rotary pump and driven via a magneto coupling aren’t unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in an inter partes review by Abbott Laboratories.
