Challenged claims of Nabors Drilling Technologies USA Inc.'s patent that discloses a project plan execution system for a well drilling operation are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board said, in an inter partes review by Helmerich & Payne International Drilling Co., Helmerich & Payne Technologies LLC, and Motive Drilling Technologies Inc. The board said that the challenged claims are obvious over prior art that discloses hardware, software and methods for controlling the usage of well drill bits and other aspects of well drilling plans; and a system for processing text captured from rendered documents. ...
