Some claims of Koss Corp.'s patent that describes wireless earphones or headphones are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board said, in an inter partes review by Apple Inc. The board determined that some of the claims are obvious over various combinations of prior art, including prior art that describes wireless systems with “first and second data sinks having no physical or electrical connection therebetween,” and that describes wireless stereo headsets.
