Challenged claims of Slingshot Printing LLC’s patent that relates to printing devices, and more particularly to methods and apparatuses for sensing temperature of multi-via heater chips, are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board said, in an inter partes review by Canon U.S.A. Inc. and Canon Inc. The board determined that the challenged claims are obvious over prior art titled “Fluid Ejection Device with Address Generator,” titled “System and Method for Predicting Dynamic Thermal Conditions of an Inkjet Printing System, and that discloses an inkjet print head.
