The Federal Circuit affirmed the decision of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board that challenged claims of Universal Electronics Inc.'s patent that discloses an apparatus, system and method for directing voice input in a controlling device are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in an inter partes review by Roku Inc. The court determined that the board’s obviousness findings are supported by substantial evidence.
