The Federal Circuit affirmed the decision of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board that claims of Viasat Inc.'s patent directed to methods and systems for error correction in data retrieved from flash memory are unpatentable as obvious over prior art, in an inter partes review by Western Digital Technologies Inc. According to the court, substantial evidence supports the board’s obviousness decision.
